Backer rod ensures us adequate expansion joints and proper function of sealant. It is important that the sealant is sticked only two points on the wood. Middle of the joint remained free of the possibility of movement and expansion. This allows us to flexible PE sealing cord to which the sealant lay on and move around freely.
